  1. Choose Data Entry Preferences from the Entry menu to open a dialog box that allows you to control the way you enter data in the Data Entry dialog box.

  3. Under General you can select these options:

  5. •  Select your Home Country.
  6.  
  7. •  Click the Automatically Open Category Selection
  8.     check box to open the Category smart list
  9.     Inquiry dialog box whenever you choose the
  10.     Category field.
  11.  
  12. •  Click the Automatically Add And Modify Entries
  13.     check box to allow you to close the Data Entry
  14.     dialog box after modifications without seeing an
  15.     alert box.
  16.  
  17. •  Click the User Definable As Date check box to
  18.     make the User Definable field a date field that
  19.     accepts only dates.
  20.  
  21. •  Click the Birthday As Date check box to remove
  22.     the check mark and allow the Birthday field to
  23.     accept characters other than dates.

  25. Click the Tabbing button to open a dialog box that allows you to change the sequence of fields that are selected when you press Tab.  The instructions are on the screen.

  27. For Automatic Text Expansion, Field Value Retention, and Automatic Capitalization, click the option that you want on the left side of the dialog box and then specify the fields you want to apply it to on the right.
